World Environment Day

Did you know that World Environment Day is coming up this month? Every year on June 5th, the country comes together to encourage awareness and action for the protection of our environment. At Clean Beauty Boutique, we like to celebrate this every day. In honor of World Environment Day, let’s take you through a brief lesson on how our daily hair products affect the Earth and what our boutique is doing about it!

Think of your shower routine…Most of the time, you’re just going through the motions, not really batting an eye at what happens after you step out and start your day all squeaky clean. Let’s take a few steps back and delve deeper into the chain reaction of such a simple routine – 

It’s hair washing day! You hop in the shower and lather up your favorite shampoo on your scalp. You watch the shampoo drip from your hair and flow down the drain. The chemicals from the shampoo are now on their journey through our water supply — This includes surface water, groundwater, sediment, wastewater and even our drinking water. Fortunately, humans aren’t ingesting these chemicals due to our water treatment, but aquatic life and animals that drink from our lakes, rivers and oceans are not as lucky. By ingesting these harmful chemicals, it can alter their hormone levels that lead to a variety of health issues, including damage to their ability to reproduce.
